About This Calculator

This calculator estimates the Sound Transmission Class (STC) of glass facade systems using the mass law approximation. It provides an indicative estimate of noise reduction performance.

R (Transmission Loss) represents the sound reduction in decibels achieved by the glass system. The estimated inside noise is calculated as:

Inside dB = Outside dB − R

Glass surface density (M) is calculated as: thickness (mm) × 2.5 kg/m². Results are approximate — actual performance may vary based on installation quality, frame type, seals, and other factors.
